About The Event
Ever just want to get away from it all without going half way around the world? This trip on the St. Johns is just that!
Explore the St. Johns River aboard our 63’ houseboat and you will experience a cruise upon which is a return to original natural Florida, appearing much as it did 200 years ago. The scenery along the river varies with the elevation, cypress swamps and marshes variously border the river and its tributaries. Much of the land bordering the river is part of the Ocala National Forest and will never be developed. Wildlife is abundant. You will see great blue and little blue herons as they pose among the thick clusters of moss-draped live oak and palmetto. Egrets dip for fish while osprey and eagles soar in the sky above you. Alligators and turtles bask in the sun on the banks. Bring your fishing equipment and fish for crappie, catfish, and perch. At one time the St. Johns was locally dubbed the bass capital of the world. The St. Johns River is home to the largest population of Bald Eagles and Black Bears outside of Alaska. In the ’20s & 30’s it was the film set for many of the Tarzan movies.
Our journey will take us north from De Land, under a couple of bridges and past a few small fish camps. Stopping at a small private island for the night. After a lazy breakfast, it’s on to Lake George (one of the larger lakes in Florida).
Heading west across the lake into Silver Glenn Springs with crystal clear waters. Ideal for swimming, enjoying the sliding board off the back of our boat and relaxing.
This 4-day trip is during the week. Starting on Monday, March 23 through March 26 on a 63-foot houseboat that sleeps 10. This is a wonderful time to be outdoors in Florida!
There is a fully equipped kitchen including a full sized refrigerator, stove, microwave, BBQ grill, A/C, hot showers and sleeps 10 people.
This is a bareboat charter, we have to provide our own food, BYOB and mixers. Each couple can choose a meal or meals to cover the 4 days. The clean-up crew will also alternate. If you cook, you don’t clean up.
The cost is $325 per person. Fuel is extra (the last trip it was $34.00 per person).
